I’ve been known to love a good dupe. The line between dupe and rip off in fashion is a very blurry one at best, however I’m just here to show you cheaper alternatives to more expensive items, not discuss the morals of fashion design.
Free People has some beautiful pieces, but they tend to be a bit overpriced for my budget. However, in a moment of weakness last season, I bought this tunic in white. Looking back, it wasn’t a great decision because while it is pretty, it’s not very versatile, making it a really expensive just-wear-once-than-leave-it-in-the-back-of-your-closet piece. While doing my daily online window shopping, I came across these two great alternatives to the Free People lace tunics: one from Forever 21 that has long sleeves and a sleeveless option from Boo Hoo. If you’ve been eyeing Free People’s tunics for awhile but can’t stomach the price, I highly recommend looking at these two. Since they are so similar and less than half the price of the original, I have a feeling they are going to sell out quickly. Let me know if you enjoy “Look for Less” posts!
Who has two thumbs, is running on minimal sleep, and has a newly redesigned, re-branded blog? (insert picture of me enthusiastically gesturing to myself.) That’s right guys, The Girl Behind the Red Door is now The Aspiring Closet. I’ve been working on re-branding my website for months, and the biggest challenge? Coming up with a new name. As much as I liked The Girl Behind the Red Door, I felt the name was too long and gave no indication of what my blog is about.
Besides renaming the site, I also migrated blog platforms from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress and added some new features. If you have ever wanted to take a peek into my closet, now you can! Just hit the “my closet” button at the top of my site to see what’s currently in my wardrobe. The result of all this fabulous new hosting is that I have more control over blog maintenance and you get a better reading and viewing experience. We’re all winners!
After going through all these changes and reflecting on the past year I’ve had as a blogger, I thought I would give my advice to anyone who has just started or is considering starting their own blog.
